San Francisco From a Distance: Virtual Attraction Tour

For a city that's only 49 square miles, San Francisco has so much for visitors to see and do. Someday soon, we'll all be able to travel and explore once again, but for now, stay connected to the City by the Bay with this fun virtual content from our favorite San Fran attractions.

California Academy of Sciences

Start your morning with Cal Academy's Breakfast Club—live, informal talks with experts on their Facebook page (you'll also find lots of other opportunities for Q&A there, both in live streams and posts.). If you're more of a night owl, keep your eyes open for virtual Nightlife events. And don't forget their live penguin cam!

Blue and Gold Fleet

Blue and Gold can't welcome passengers aboard in person right now, but they're still providing inspiration with the sights and sounds of the Bay Area on their social channels.

Aquarium of the Bay

The Aquarium of the Bay is bringing its staff and animals to you via Facebook live, with behind-the-scenes content, animal care team bios, interesting facts, and in-depth looks at some of the colorful, cute and maybe not-so-cute (wolf eels, anyone?) creatures that call the aquarium home. Have questions about the aquarium? Email them to questions@bay.org, and stay tuned for a special Facebook Live at the end of May, when the care team will answer your questions. The Aquarium also has some great at-home learning resources for science-loving families on their website.

The Walt Disney Family Museum

For anyone even remotely interested in the Disney legacy, The Walt Disney Family Museum is a treasure trove of history and artifacts. The museum may be closed, but you'll find plenty of fascinating content on their Facebook page. Start with the #WDFMVault objects, like sketches by Walt Disney himself, or pieces from his personal art collection. Keep scrolling for behind-the-scenes stories from the Collections staff, and keep your eyes open for upcoming episodes of the Museum's virtual series Happily Ever After Hours.

Exploratorium

Exploratorium has a great online Learning Toolbox with lots of opportunities for fun at-home activities on timely topics, plus article and video collections that will get your science wheels spinning. You'll also find plenty of virtual explorations on their Facebook page.

San Francisco Zoo & Gardens

If you need something to smile about, visit the zoo's Facebook page, where you'll find not only an overload of cuteness, but opportunities to learn more about the animals that call the zoo home.

San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA)

Find artist interview videos, podcast episodes, essays and more, all online. Follow the museum on social media for featured artworks and thought-provoking questions. And if you're feeling really creative, find your favorite piece from SFMOMA's online collection and bring it to life!

de Young Museum + Legion of Honor

Thanks to Google Arts and Culture, you can have the museum all to yourself. Get an in-depth view into featured exhibits, or explore the "Get Smart With Art" collections. On their social channels, you'll find featured artworks, interviews, and inspiring reading.
